Earn Miles and Points with Auto Foursquare Check-ins - UPDATED

Update: 06/26 - Best Western will no longer participate as of June 30th

Update: 06/17 - The United Topguest link currently redirects to Topguest with no option to enter United#)

Foursquare mobile change location was not working for a few days but appears to back online

I also had a number of comments and emails about the Auto Foursquare Check-in hack so I've updated the original post to clarify a few things:
e.g.
 - United is a separate link outside of Topguest so slightly different rules apply.
 - Hilton check-ins are limited to Doubletree properties although some people say Garden Inn also works
 - Wyndham check-ins are limited to Wingate properties and must use a specific loyalty member #
 - You need to follow the exact steps in the post to get the points and avoid being flagged for abusing the T&C

Happy Hacking!

  1. Wow, are these all the points you earn in 1 day or in a week?!? Amazing!! Btw, how do you have two best western rewards accounts, two Virgin America, etc.? Is one for you and one for your wife??

  2. @ Brandon - This is a snippet from one week for me and the missus

  3. Wow, great!

Btw, I noticed yours says "Wyndham ByRequest". On mine, at awardwallet.com, it says "Wyndham Rewards (Days Inn, etc.)", does it make a difference? I'm still earning points for it every day.

  4. @ Brandon - as long as the points post you are fine - no probs

  5. hi. I have a question about this trick when I already have a TopGuest account. Can I create new TopGuest accounts and associate the reward program with that new account? If not, then how do I use this trick? Ask the hotel or airline to assign me a new reward number?

  6. @ Gary: You can create new TopGuest a/c's but will need to associate a new reward a/c with it. You may be able to delete your existing TG a/c but I have not tried that

  7. I'm actually getting Hilton HHonors points posting from my check-ins at a Hilton Garden Inn, though I have heard others say its only working for Doubletree now. Just letting you know that there may yet be some anomalies. Thanks for that great post BTW!

  8. For some reason, I am not getting points for Virgin America...I checked in at JFK - NY and SFO - San Fransisco...any ideas?

  9. @ Mike: My points were not showing up either so I switched check-in location from the 'Virgin America Terminal' to 'Virgin America Ticket Counter' and it finally worked - let me know pls

  10. Thanks Paddy, I will try that and will let you know how that works. Your Blog is awesome! Thanks.

  11. How much of a lag are people experiencing between getting the email from TopGuest confirming your 50 points and the points posting to the program? I am getting emails from TogGuest confirming my earnings on all accounts, but I'm not seeing points post to my United or Wyndham accounts.

    Thanks!

  12. @ Anony: ref 'LAG' - There is a lag of a few days / a week sometimes (usually after signing up) - You may need to switch your Wyndham loyalty traveller # as some have better luck with the 'By Request #' and some with the Wyndham Rewards #' - If United isn't posting soon you likely did something wrong and need to retrace your steps

  13. OK, I switched the check-in location from the 'Virgin America Terminal' to 'Virgin America Ticket Counter' as you suggested and it worked! Thanks!

  14. @ Mike: Cool - appreciate you letting me know

  15. Added Wife's united account couple of days back (using the separate united link). But haven't gotten any points. The only thing different I did with her account was that I checked in at united ticket counter at Dulles airport in DC. I got the email and points pretty quickly but am confused why she is not getting any points. She is getting points/emails for all other programs. Any ideas, suggestions?

  16. @ Mike: When you check your wifes foursquare account history - are the check-ins showing up there? Did you add her real name as it appears in her United account when you set up the foursquare account?

    ReplyDelete
  17. Yes, the check-ins are showing up in Foursquare and yes, I have added her real name. I also checked under settings - Connections to other apps and I see MileagePlus as connected. Maybe, I just need to be more patient or may be this is just a glitch. BTW, I also cheked-in at the Airport itself (instead of ticket counter) and so far got nothing.

  18. @ Mike: Give it a few days - sometimes there is a lag in my United miles showing up yet my wife's show up and visa-versa. Pls give me status update as now it seems the United topguest link is down so I suspect this hack may be in jeopardy

  19. I have the same problems with my Wyndham by request to be posted. Topguest shows I have earned like 200 points, but not posted on my Wyndham by request account. It has been one week since I first signed up. Should I switch to my member number to that Wyndham Rewards (the one starting with numbers)?

Thanks for your exciting posts to make this happen.

  20. @ Cecilia: Give it a few more days and then if nothing posts - make the switch

  21. Regarding Wyndham, I have both a 'by request' and Rewards account set up for this hack and have received confirmation emails for all check-in's and have also received emails confirming points for both accounts. However, neither accounts have any points posted as of yet. Patience is the game here...

On another note, as of last night my United points (for my wife's account) were not showing up after a few successful check- in's. Points in my account were posting, so when I attempted to verify that I entered her account number correctly, that is when I noticed the 'redirect' problem listed above. I went to bed concerned, but woke up to find her first set of points posted into her account...!

Now another problem with United... I noticed that both of my auto-check-in's worked fine this morning, yet I received no confirmation email from United. I suspect that this just confirms my suspicions that this hack is done... Tomorrow will tell. Anyone else not receive their email from United?

  22. @ Anony: If both Wyndham points eventually post that would be a great double dip - please let us know

United lag is normal so wait a few days but again please report back so we can compare notes

  23. Bad news - Two days later and my United emails and miles have stopped: I think you can officially call the United hack dead...

Good News - Both Wyndham points have started to post... Double dip indeed!

I didn't mention it in my original post, but thanks for all these hacks!

    ReplyDelete
  24. @ Anony: yes bummer about United but thanks for the double dip info on Wyndham

  25. I signed up for Wyndham and Wyndham Rewards and I do seem to be getting points for each (I see separate amounts in the emails) but the programs are merging soon I think and I only see the total points for one. Is there something I'm doing wrong? When I look at the emails for my Wyndham check-ins for Wyndham.com I see "congrats, you've earned 50 points for check-in, you have earned 150 points total!" [I only started this a few days ago]. But when I look at my emails for my Wydhamrewards.com check-in I see "congrats you've earned 50 points for check-in, you have earned 600 points total". I don't see them merged, the accounts are under the same name.

  26. @ Anony: I'm not sure the 50 point notification emails are reliable - I have not confirmed the double dip but someone did in the comments above. you need to check your Wyndham a/c balances to be sure (may be a lag of a few days) - let us know pls

  27. I am trying to sign up for the TopGuest programs and it is saying that an "Account (Member ID) already belongs to another user." It looks like they have figured out how to prevent people from using the same rewards number over and over again or am I doing something wrong?

    ReplyDelete
  28. @ Beast - you can't sign up a loyalty # more than once
