UPDATE: Following up from here - Very happy to report that a phanthom 'no show' booking just posted (took 3 days and I was sweating) for Country Inns for 44K points +4K bonus for being a silver member = 48K Carlson for $90 in Florida location - YMMV - am sure there are cheaper options.
This little hack = ~1 night in Top Tier Europe / Asia Carlson Hotel for up to $500+ per night aka BARGAIN!

I really think you should delete this post. Many of us are aware of this hack, and I'm worried that they are going to catch on and cancel/reverse the points. Would you consider removing these? They're worth too many points to lose.
ReplyDelete@ Anony:
ReplyDeleteI appreciate your concern but I am just a wee blog with a small audience and in my opinion Carlson are more than happy to oblige with awarding points for no shows - as the small number who do this + the even smaller number who end up using the points is built into their business model

ReplyDeleteThanks brotha, just signed up for a park inn in MI and a park plaza in MN. Im hoping the no shows will still count. I have also subscribed to your blog.
@ aznprzn - let us know if it worked pls
ReplyDeleteHey... when you login to your Club Carlson account and look at your reservation history, do you see a cancellation number on your phantom no show booking for the one that worked? I tried this and am seeing a cancellation number (but also a pending charge on my credit card). Let me know, and thanks so much! :)
ReplyDelete@ Anony: No - I don't see it as cancelled - it shows like a regular stay
ReplyDeleteDamn... doesn't look like it worked for me, then. It tried it and am seeing that they cancelled my stay since I didn't show up (there's a cancellation number in my Club Carlson account) AND a charge on my credit card. :(
ReplyDeleteAfter reading this post I booked a stay in a radisson 7/13 and a stay in a country inn on 7/14 ($78 and $57 respectively). No showed both of them since they were across the country. No cancellation number but no points yet.
ReplyDeletefingers crossed!
@ Anony: bummer which city / property / brand did you book?
ReplyDelete@ Jordan: - 1.) when you check your carlson a/c did the stays show up yet on your statement 2.) you registered for the promo right?
They show up in 'my recent stays' but not under 'my statement'.
ReplyDeleteMy first attempt failed (I see a cancellation number AND I was charged on my credit card). Since Jordan isn't having much luck, I was wondering, Paddy, if you called the evening of your reservation to confirm your booking so that they wouldn't "cancel" it, or, did you just leave it be as a reservation and hope for the best? The one that I was cancelled for was Park Plaza.
ReplyDeleteI'm tempted to risk this a second time, but not sure, yet.
@ Jordan: sometimes takes a few days for points to show up but not liking the cancelled status on your res :-(
ReplyDelete@ Anony: I just left it to the 'gods' - seems to vary by location from what you and Jordan are reporting
No luck Paddy. I wonder if i can just call in and have them push it thru for the Park Plaza I have scheduled.
ReplyDelete@ aznprzn: I'm on the fence going for Park Plaza hearing your story - I don't quite understand why a no show would not be honored for bonus points - it's a win win for the hotel and a large % of folks will never get around to redeeming the bonus - keep me posted pls
ReplyDelete@paddy
ReplyDeleteYeah Im not sure if I want to gamble again. Although I do not see them charging me for it on my cc. Maybe someone at Carlson knows if you charge them it will trigger the points.
