Batman: The Dark Knight - Movie Review
I have never done a movie review on this blog before. I generally can't see the point in adding my 2 cents worth to the thousand other reviews out there. Today I'm making an exception.
I just saw the latest Batman instalment called 'The Dark Knight' which is the first Batman movie not to have Batman in the title. Unless you use one of the alternative titles 'Batman Begins 2' or 'Batman:El Caballero de la Noche' (Knight of the Night) as they call it here in Argentina. Hmm...I wonder if Batgirl is 'The Woman of the Night'? but I digress as usual.
The previous Batman movies were mediocre at best. The majority of the comic book transitions to the big screen (X-Men, Spiderman, Fantastic Four etc) have been entertaining in terms of special effects but pretty average in most other aspects.
The cast is a veritable who's who of Holywood and the movie is two and a half hours long or more exactly 152 minutes that will keep you glued to the screen. The acting is exceptional. The plot is captivating. The special effects are magnificent. The action sequences are dynamite.
I badly needed to pee about an hour in but I couldn't leave the chair for fear of missing something. Heath Ledger (deceased) not to be confused with Keith Ledger (alive and kicking) plays the Joker and is (was) outstanding. I don't hand out compliments for a film/movie that easy but this is gob smackingly unbelievably entertaining stuff. I give it a hugely enthusiastic 2 thumbs up! If you're not impressed, you can kiss my Irish Blarney Stone Arse and I'll refund your ticket.
More details here.

Kieth Ledger LOL!!!
My 13 year old wants to see this. What dy'a reckon? Suitable??
Woops - early a.m. typo! thanks - fixed now. It's quite violent but not a gore fest. Think Matrix but darker - I think it should be ok.
This is one of the few 'BIG' movies I've been looking forward to in a long time.
I haven't got a clue when it turn up here though...
@Xbox: July 14th according to this http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0468569/releaseinfo - It won't disappoint!
@ Xbox: July 24th I meant - brain is not quite working today!
It has been suggested that Ledgers performance is Oscar worthy .... we will see, I am either going this afternoon to see it, or if Mrs M gets her way, it will be Mamma Mia !! DOH !!!
{Cringe!} Please say it wasn't Mamma Mia - I feel your pain!
Ok, ok, there's been a lot of beat about Heath's performance that i thought might have been because he snuffed it but hey, it opened here last Thursday, Tuesday's are half price and it's got Christian Bale as Batman . . . i need little more encouragement than that. I'm going! (thanks for the Borat image . .. dampened the enthusiasm a little!)
so what main character died in it? c'mon save me from watching it.
I'm not a fan of big blockbuster movies, heck I've never even seen any of the "Spider man" movies or any big summer movie of Will Smith, but this movie sounds good and Heath Ledger was an Excellent actor.
@ Baino: Go for it. You'll be suitably impressed.
@ Old Knudsen: No secret there - poor old Heath Ledger aka The Joker.
@ Lover of Nature: You didn't miss much not seeing Spiderman and Will Smiths sub average movies. This you should see however and on the big screen for maximum effect.
I can't to see this. It looks so amazing. I'm so excited to see it!!!! It comes to england next week and i'll be there right away!!
Offspring is 14 and had no problem with it. Went with his uncle, so I haven't seen it yet.
He did say "the Joker was pretty scary" about eight times when he was describing it to me.
Nomadic Matt: You is gonna luv it! - Sounds like your havinf a great time in London!
Megan: They didn't make movies like this when I was 14 :-((
you should clock out and go see it yerself or better still see it while your clocked in!
"Batman, Man of the Night," eh? That's better than his gay porn name -- "Batman, Man of the Enlarged Cod Piece."
Jonah - that doesn't quite roll off the tongue but is catchy nevertheless!
Batman is my secret boyfriend.
I love Christian Bale; one of the most underrated movies is Equilibrium (2002), loosely based on Aldous Huxley’s Brave New World.
I didn't go last weekend as I'm not a fan of overly crowded theatres BUT I'm going this weekend.
Caballero de la noche means 'Knight of the night'
@ Queen Goob: I haven't seen Equilibrium but will keep an eye out for it. I see it gets good reviews at imdb.com - I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
@ Anonymous: Thanks for dropping by and for keeping me honest - fixed now.
