Happy 2014!

Greetings from hot and sunny Buenos Aires! We are visiting family for the annual Xmas - New Years vacation. This year we escaped the power cuts in the capital and headed 400 kms south to the beach town of Mar de las Pampas for 5 nights.

It´s a very laid back place and was just what we needed to unwind. My travels have been few and far between this year. Parenthood, work and budget mean less time for the jet set lifestyle and hence less time and material for blogging but c'est la vie!.

Chinese Market - Yangshuo, Guilin, China

This is not your typical market as Westerners would see it but is 'normal' in China. Those who disapprove of the consumption of K9 fare are forewarned to steer clear. There was a cafe beside the market serving 'fresh dog meat' but we did not partake. This topic was raised on this blog a while back here... thoughts?.

It's hard to believe it's been four years to the day since we were here and a lot has happened since then. We relocated (yet again) - this time from Asia to USA. We had a life changing event aka son Liam now 1 year old. White hairs are sprouting from all the strangest places (yes even down there!). And don't even get me started on wrinkles (bring on the botox - not!)

Mopeds run on coke in these parts. No wonder they say cola is bad for you...

It's Norway or the Highway

I was watching the Amazing Race on TV and they were in Norway and my missus asked were we ever there so I had to check the stash of photos and sure enough we had gone for a weekend to Oslo on Ryanair while we were in London. Let the record state we were there and here are the photos as proof.

Please excuse the following rant, but the gargantuan amount of credit card affiliate links (e.g. you click my link - I make commission) being pushed down readers (deep) throats on travel blogs has surely reached critical mass. Laos - Luang Prabang

After the mother of all horror bus trips we finally arrived in Luang Prabang. I forgot how beautiful it was until revisiting the photos recently. I can now say it was all worth it although I might not have been so sure after the weary ride to get here. Enjoy a sample of local scenery below
